Zariyand is an independent platform for analysis and commentary on public finance, fiscal governance, public administration, and political economy with a focus on the Maldives.
Who I Am
I am a public finance and administration professional with over 34 years of experience in the Maldivian public sector, specialising in national budgeting, public sector auditing, fiscal policy, procurement governance, sovereign debt, and revenue forecasting.
I hold an MBA from the University of the West of England (UWE).
Beyond finance, I have been a first-division footballer, a national team player, and a licensed goalkeeper coach — having served as goalkeeper trainer for clubs and the Maldives national team. I bring the same discipline, analytical rigour, and team orientation from sport into my professional and public life.
I contested the 2024 Parliamentary Election and the 2026 Mayoral Election. I regularly appear on television as an analyst on public finance issues and international football tournaments, and I host podcasts on governance and public policy.
